In our dining room we have an old jute rug.
I love the texture it brings to the room without adding color.
The problem I have with this kind of rug is keeping it clean.
Especially when you have a dog that occasionally has an accident on it.
Stains do not come out and the more you work with it, the worse it becomes.

Even though it is old and really worn,
I still love this rug.
So, I decided to try something I saw on a blog a few months back.

Stenciled Jute Rug
I bought a stencil, white craft paint and a small rolling brush all from Hobby Lobby.
The total cost was $12.

This project took less than an hour and
I love the way it came out.
It didn't cover all the stains but it definitively takes some attention away from them,
and gives this rug a fresh look.

Now I am trying to convince my husband to allow me to paint and distress those chairs!
