Daniel Boone Inn

Okay, this is the last Boone, NC post...I promise!
But before I can end the series, I have to mention one of the best restaurants in the area;
Daniel Boone Inn

My family use to stop here to eat breakfast every
year on our way to the beach.
It was two hours out of our way, but we loved it that much.
I had not eaten there since I was a girl.

These pictures were taken on my pitiful phone. If you happen to see my husband out and about, remind him how much I need a new smart phone!
Sorry about the quality.

Dinner at the Inn is served Family Style.

And we ate it Family Style!

Then, dessert!
Chocolate cake with butter cream icing...

and banana pudding.
The coffee tasted just like my grandmothers.
I think it has to be from a percolator.

This restaurant has been in business for 53 years and I can see why;
really good food and wonderful service!
We will make the drive back to eat and eat and eat and eat, but probably not pulling a camper.

Downtown Blowing Rock

Such an enchanting little mountain town.
The town sits high in the mountains of North Carolina.

We took this photo (actually, I took it...he was busying driving) while turning the truck around through the front window. Now this is beauty!

It is not an easy drive if you are pulling a camper, but when  you get there it is so worth it.

Of course I had to get a shot of this..
(my husband is a cop)

Isn't this the sweetest sight? Throughout the stores on main street, they had books from the library for sale.

I love this little alley that lead us to more stores. Isn't it beautiful? It just fits the whole feel of this small mountain town.

------------------------

While camping in Boone, this past weekend,
we visited one of my favorite antique stores...
Windwood Antiques
They have two locations in Blowing Rock, one is on Main street and
 the other is on Hwy 321 next to the Food Lion

They have the best selection of reproductions and
authentic antiques.

Isn't this place the dream?!

Then, we happened-up on the most wonderful place;
two stores in one location.
First is the Mustard Seed Market...
cutest nursery ever!

 Then the Heart...
I loved this little store!

I loved the baby section, but
that could be because I am soon to be a grandmother.

It was a great day of shopping to say the least...at least for me!!

Easy Camping Corn on the Cob

This has to be the easiest corn on the cob ever!

Grilled Corn on the Cob

When purchasing your corn, buy it still in the husk.
To prepare, put in a cooler or any
big bucket and cover with water.
Soak at least 1 hour.
 I like coolers because you can put the lid on and
go about your day.

Then, when you are ready to eat, just put on the grill for about 15 minutes, at the most.
The water from soaking steams the corn and keeps it from burning. The husks and silks just fall away when you go to shuck it before eating.
That is all there is to it!
We enjoyed this corn with Steaks and Salad.
