My sweet Mother-in-law just turned 90 years old.
This sweet lady has been such an inspiration to me!
She is one of the hardest working women I know.
She retired from her factory job when she was 81 years old.
This factory had no air conditioning and she worked from 6:30 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon, everyday no matter how hot.
I never heard her complain about having to go to work,
Not once!
One of my favorite things about this lady is that
She always had food ready for any occasion.
It was like she could pull a hot meal out of the air!
Something I am still working to master.
I love asking her questions about her childhood.
Her memory of those years long ago is vivid.
She once told me of the day a man came to their home to hook up their electricity! She was 12!!
I can't even imagine life with Electricity.
I can't even go camping without it,
and she and her family lived life without it!
So many wonderful things I could say about her, but one thing is for sure...
she is perfect example of the Proverbs 31 woman!
Her children arise and call her blessed!!

ReplyDeleteThat is Aunt Ruth preaching the Lord's word through her actions and not just through her words. If you just met her, not only would you think she is not 90, but you would not think she has dealt with the tragedies that she has in her life, from her husband's early and sudden death, her son's illness and early death, and her first son-in-law's diagnosis, treatment, and death from cancer. Many people would complain about these events to others and how they affected her life. Not Aunt Ruth. Not that she doesn't miss these dear people still today and grieve their loss in her life, because she does, but she never complains about it. I know her mother was that way, too.
ReplyDeleteNot only did they not have electricity indoors, but when she was a girl, I believe they had to haul water to the house from the spring or pump because it wasn't in the old home place back then. My point on that is she wasn't raised in! the china, linen, and silver world, but she has class that super cedes that. She always makes you feel welcome in her home and you're always greeted with a warm hug. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see Aunt Ruth a whole lot in the last thirty years, but each time I saw her it was as if I saw her just yesterday. That is how comfortable she makes you feel. Happy Birthday Rhettie Ruth! One awesome Lady!
